Walnut Trees
Hi Gardeners,
This week we are having a sale on our walnut trees!
We stock two different varieties of Walnut trees in the nursery… the Common Walnut and the Black Walnut.
Both our varieties are self pollinating but growing one (or more) of each will increase pollination and fruit set.
Common Walnut (also known as the English Walnut) - rich, earthy, nutty flavour.
Black Walnut - high oil content with an earthy, mushroom-like flavour. Less sweet then the Common Walnut.
Walnut trees are prized for their edible, sweet nuts, as well as their timbre.
Walnuts boast a range of health benefits including brain health, heart disease, blood sugar, cholesterol (the list goes on!).
They also make a great pantry staple lending themselves to sweet and savoury cuisine (think carrot cake, brownies, pasta, potato salad, savoury mince fillings.. yum!)
Walnuts are a deciduous tree that thrive in fertile, well draining soil.
Call into the nursery this week to view- limited numbers of both varieties available.
